Peter Hook and the Light

Bands, especially successful ones, often collapse in waves of acrimony only to resurface in the form of competitive semi-official tribute acts. Peter Hook, erstwhile bassist for Joy Division and New Order, and his band are just that, and having toured Closer and Unknown Pleasures last year, they’re now turning over New Order’s early albums Movement And Power, Corruption And Lies. For so long the dynamic heart of the band, Hooky, as he’s affectionately known, gave the surprisingly intergenerational audience what they craved while demonstrating his perhaps unexpected vocal versatility. The music? You either love it or hate it: I love it.
