Former Hove councillor joins housing charity board

A former Hove councillor has joined the board of a housing charity.

Mark Barnard, who represented Hangleton on Brighton and Hove City Council from 1999 to 2003, has become a voluntary director of the Grace Eyre Housing Charity.

The charity is based in Montefiore Road, Hove, on the corner of Old Shoreham Road, and develops housing for adults with learning disabilities.

For the past four years Mr Barnard has been a trustee of the Tony Barnard Foundation which was set up in memory of his father who died in 2006.

He said: “I am delighted to take up this voluntary directorship which will enable me to use my expertise to create housing which will offer the opportunity for independent living for people with learning disabilities.”
