Hammer-wielding thug robs woman in Brighton
An armed robber threatened a Brighton woman with a hammer and stole her phone and money as she walked home from a night out.
The victim was walking in Wellington Road, Brighton, opposite St Joseph’s Church, at 2am on Saturday (30 November) when she was mugged.
The suspect went up to her and demanded that she hand over cash and her phone, which she did.
He then ran off. Sussex Police said that she was unhurt but shaken.
The man was described as white, between 26 and 30 years old, with either a bald or closely shaven head, a pale complexion and ginger stubble, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall and of skinny build.
He was wearing a light green hoodie with a light-coloured jacket over the top.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Monday 25 November for two similar robberies on Tuesday 19 November and Sunday 24 November.
He has been questioned and released on bail until Thursday 2 January.
Detective Sergeant Maureen Lambert said: “We are looking at whether the latest robbery is linked to the previous ones the week before.
“We are appealing for witnesses to the one on Saturday and would like to hear from anyone who has any information.”
