Hot stuff: Priscilla Queen Of The Desert comes to Theatre Royal Brighton

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert – The Musical provides the perfect party night out at the Theatre Royal Brighton this festive season

Theatre Royal Brighton goes down under this Christmas as the Priscilla bus rolls into town. Priscilla Queen Of The Desert – The Musical plays at the Theatre from Tuesday 17 December to Sunday 5 January and sales are set to break box office records for any Christmas show at Theatre Royal Brighton in living memory.

Based on the 1994 movie which became an instant cult classic on its release, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is the adventure of three male friends dressed in gaudy frocks, thick make up, high heels and outrageous headgear who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could ever dream of.

Camp, high energy and glitzy, this stunning production requires 500 costumes, 200 hats, 100 wigs and 150 pairs of shoes. The three lead cast members spend two and a half hours preparing for each performance and carry out 20 costume changes per show.

The perfect party night out, the show features a list of such dancefloor classics as ‘It’s Raining Men’, ‘Say a Little Prayer’, ‘Go West’, ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Always on My Mind’, ‘I Love The Nightlife’, ‘The Locomotion’ and ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert – The Musical originally opened in Australia in 2006 where it ran for two years before opening in the West End for a run of a further two years. The show recently played a hugely successful season on Broadway. Along the way, it has won numerous awards including the prestigious Olivier and Tony Awards for Best Costume Design.

To celebrate the Antipodean theme of the show, the Theatre will be serving a taste of the outback for Christmas. The Theatre’s coffee shop, The Parlour, situated at the rear of the Stalls, will become the Dingo Den for the duration of the run. Call in and order a cocktail, glass of wine or a lovely cool beer to enjoy during the show.

The hilarious Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is sure to sell out at Theatre Royal Brighton this Christmas, so book now to avoid disappointment.
