Touché Amoré

I didn’t expect American post-hardcore band Touché Amoré to have much of a following in Brighton, but as it turned out Audio was crammed with passionate fans, creating a friendly but vigorous atmosphere. It’s easy to see why, with clearly discernible confessional lyrics and a frantic pace fitting about 15+ melodic songs into a 50 minute set. The guitars were trebly and crisp, the drumming relentless and energetic, and the singing was superbly raspy and distraught. The removal of the barriers halfway through the set perfectly symbolised the communal catharsis of the performance, with end-of-the-world screaming/singing from both the band and the audience resulting in a truly unique experience.
