Nuffield Brighton is awarded Macmillan Quality Environment Mark

The Nuffield Brighton, the south coast city’s original private hospital, is delighted to announce that they have been awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark, a detailed quality framework used for assessing whether cancer care environments meet the standards required by people living with cancer.

To win this award, a hospital must demonstrate that they have provided an environment that is welcoming and accessible to all.

The four key themes being the use of good design and use of space, the patient’s journey through treatment, the overall experience of the service, and consultation and involvement.

Other more detailed criteria include being respectful of people’s privacy and dignity, supportive to users’ comfort and well-being, giving choice and control to patients and listening to the voice of the patient.

Nuffield Brighton fulfilled this quota as well as being recognised for other outstanding services provided to their patients, such as the free parking facilities, signage within the hospital, the quality of food and levels of comfort offered to patients.

Rachel Scarfe, Oncology Manager at the Nuffield Brighton, says: “We are very happy that the level of care we give our cancer patients here has been recognised with the prestigious award, as we feel it is extremely important that patients who are diagnosed with cancer are not only given the best medical care that the country can provide, but that at Nuffield Brighton it is matched by the environment in which they receive it.”

The Nuffield Brighton has been awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment mark until the end of 2016.
