Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

The return of the absurd hijinks of the news team set in the ’80s doesn’t disappoint, with some occasionally great new gags. Paul Rudd’s Brian Fantana mentions that he spent two weeks in Prague shooting one cat photo for example, and looks forward to partying with Phil Spector and O.J. Simpson as part of a fun-loving gang called The Ladykillers.

There is some retreading of old ideas however, which feels a little cheap and repetitive, and the female characters are again given a raw deal in terms of character depth and laughs. A solid sequel that could have been sharper and more carefully written, although some might feel that the hit-and-miss film appropriately reflects the chaotic characters.
