Hove murder trial delayed

The trial of a man from Brighton accused of murdering a father of two in Hove has been put back until next week.

Edmund Nela, 31, is accused of shooting dead a fellow Albanian, Xhem Krasniqi, in Church Road Road, Hove, by the corner of Selborne Road, in May last year.

He is also accused of the attempted murder of Mr Krasniqi’s brother and nephew and two counts of having a firearm.

The trial had been due to start at Hove Crown Court yesterday (Monday 13 January).

Instead it is expected to start next Wednesday (22 January), when it will be presided over by Judge Shani Barnes, the Recorder of Brighton and Hove.

Nela was remanded in custody.
