House 2014 Commissioning Opportunity

HOUSE is a dynamic visual arts event which was established in 2009 to offer exceptional commissioning opportunities to artists based in the South East and London. HOUSE curates an annual programme of site-specific commissions across the city in partnership with Brighton Festival, Lighthouse, University of Brighton and Photoworks. Each year an invited artist provides a thematic context for HOUSE and supports the creation of a series of selected commissions.

HOUSE 2014 invites proposals from artists based in the South East and London to explore notions of territory and place, cultural identity, displacement, refuge and seeking refuge and how this is understood and perceived in contemporary society.

There is a total commissioning budget of £16,000 to allow the creation of up to four works, within a recommended maximum of £4,000 per commission to include artist fee, materials, labour, expenses, installation and technical costs.

The deadline for submissions is: 9am Monday 20 January 2014.

The full Artist Brief and Application Form can be downloaded from www.housefestival.org

N.B. Artist interviews will be held on Thursday 30th January, not Friday as given in the Brief.
