Robin Ince, Michael Legge and Guests: Pointless Anger Righteous Ire

Robin Ince and Michael Legge are two of the angriest men in comedy – but is it pointless anger or righteous ire? This is the backbone of the show, as these two brilliantly play off each other – mocking, supporting, doubling over giggling and much more in response to the things that tick the other off. They are both master comics, but put them together and it’s like a valve is released in the room and the audience to a one are behind these middle-aged complainers, encouraged to to vent their spleen at the annoying minutiae of the world and then vote their agreement at each other’s grievances. The only respite from the rictus of thought-engaging laughter was a tender short set from former Gene frontman Martin Rossiter, which even raised an inappropriate titter at childhood depression. In the top five shows I have ever seen – possibly the best. I can’t wait ’til they come back.
