Witnesses catch robbery suspect in Brighton
Witnesses chased and caught a robbery suspect after a man was mugged in West Street in Brighton at the weekend.
Two men went up to a 20-year-old man and attacked him without warning, Sussex Police said. They punched the man who suffered minor injuries in the attack.
The muggers tore a gold chain from the victim’s neck and also ran off with his mobile phone.
People near by chased the two robbers and caught one of the suspected thieves in North Street a short time afterwards.
Sussex Police arrested a 19-year-old from Kent on suspicion of robbery. He has been released on police bail until Saturday 8 March while officers make further inquiries.
The other mugger got away.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened between 3.45am and 4.15am on Saturday (11 January).
