Lily & Madeleine

A very young (under-21) sister duo, Lily & Madeleine’s folk/pop songs are fleshed out on record with drums, strings, bass and more. Live, the two of them play just guitar and keyboard, and the simple setup worked wonders on the starkly delicate ‘Disappearing Heart’ where both sisters utilised pleasant harmonies and rich tones. Other songs missed the record’s fuller arrangements however, with the stripped back setup highlighting the over-simplicity of some the basic chord-based songs. Chatterboxes by the bar occasionally marred the cordial and intimate atmosphere unfortunately, but there is certainly songwriting and melodic potential in the charming Lily & Madeleine.
