Brighton man suffers broken jaw in attack outside town hall

A man suffered a broken jaw after he asked two men to stop urinating against Brighton Town Hall.

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Brighton, was on a night out with friends when he was attacked.

After he asked the men to stop relieving themselves at about 2.30am on Sunday 2 March, an argument started.

One of the two men then hit him in the face before heading off towards East Street.

The victim may need surgery to repair the damage to his face.

The attacker was described as white, 6ft 1in tall and in his late twenties. He had mousey blond shoulder-length hair, combed back, and designer stubble. He was wearing a long dark coat.

Detective Constable Jemma Paterson said: “The victim was attacked for telling the two men to stop being anti-social.

“This was a nasty assault that has left him with a nasty injury that is going to take further treatment to heal.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area on Sunday morning and who saw anything near Subway in Bartholomew Square.

“Please contact us if you know anything at all.”
