Work starts on Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre

It has taken years of hard work. But thanks to thousands of donors digging deep, work has now started on the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre.

With the turf now cut, fundraisers are promising the £6 million building in Bristol Gate, Brighton, will be complete by summer 2015.

Hundreds of people attended a special thank you party at the American Express Community Stadium on Tuesday March 18 to mark the start of work.

The event was also used to kickstart a final push for the remaining £1.2 million to ensure the centre opens and thousands of people can get the support they need.

The Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre is the result of close Woking between two charities: Macmillan Cancer Support and the Sussex Cancer Fund.

It will the first of its kind in the county to offer all round support for people affected by cancer in a calm, friendly and welcoming environment.
