Austen’s Women
As is often the case, it’s the simple ideas that make the most impact. ‘Austens Women’ is a perfectly formed pocket-sized piece of theatre. Rebecca Vaughan does an incredible job in bringing to life a dozen characters (sometimes with a subtle yet highly effective change in voice or costume). The story arc moves naturally and seamlessly from a bitter old hag to a young lady in the throws of new love, highlighting at the same time the similarities and complexities of Jane Austen’s characters. One act, one actress, one excellent night of theatre.
