Lisa Knapp

How apt to see Lisa Knapp on the day of the Kate Bush ticket frenzy, for where there is Knapp, there is Björk, and where there is Björk (and countless others) there is Bush. And the weight of Kate was very much in evidence with the gasps and groans layered up on Lisa’s loop pedal and overlapping her swooping and frequently high, nasal vocals. This isn’t Folk for the faint-hearted: it’s boundary-pushing, genre-bending stuff, combining the acoustic and the electronic and unapologetically shunting the ancient into the yet-to-come. It’s futuristic Folk, yet with enough appeal for the traditionalists and the audio adventurers alike.
