TAKEPART Festival

Don’t just sit there – get involved!

Working with organisations across the city, the Sports Development Team invites everyone to join in one of the biggest celebrations of sport and active lifestyles in the country – TAKEPART 2014. Here are two events that are sure to prove popular with both young and old alike!

Active Forever
King Alfred Leisure Centre,
Tues 1 July, 10am-1pm. Free

The Sports Development Team is working with clubs and groups from across the city to host the annual Active Forever event, which celebrates being active in older age. This is a chance to find out about local opportunities to keep active as you get older. It’s also a chance to try something new and to find out what’s happening across the city and in your area.

The event includes short tennis, Flamenco dancing, Tai Chi, table tennis and much more. The final tournament of the Brighton & Hove Boccia league will also take place —something not to be missed!

Health promotion organisations will be on hand to give older people advice on leading a healthy, fun and social lifestyle. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Wild Park Youth Festival
Wild Park, Sun 29 June, 12-4pm. Free

After the huge success of last year’s first youth festival, the event, aimed at youngsters aged 12+, returns even bigger and better in 2014! Young people can try their hand at a range of activities, including football, dance, rock climbing, archery and music.

The event is led by Brighton and Hove Youth Collective and supported by Sports Development and Albion in the community. Food and refreshments are available.
