Students from Littlehampton Academy gain work experience with Barratt Homes

Barratt Homes were delighted to welcome students from The Littlehampton Academy this week to their Cissbury Chase development in Worthing, West Sussex, in order for them to gain valuable experience on a building site and try their hands at bricklaying.

Steve Craig, site manager for Barratt Homes Cissbury Chase, commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome the students and their tutor from Littlehampton Academy. They were given an induction into life on a building site, including the health and safety aspects, and even got to try bricklaying. I think this was a positive experience for all who attended and maybe one or two of them will have future aspirations to choose the building industry as their career path.”

Jennifer Littlejohn, a Construction Teacher from Littlehampton Academy, said: “Our invite from Barratt Homes to experience the many trades associated with a building site was a great success. The students learned an awful lot in a short space of time thanks to the site manager, Steve, and his co-workers and many of the students’ conversations since have centred on their induction day. A number of the students, as a result of this visit, are now determined to seek careers within the construction industry.”

Cissbury Chase brings to the market a selection of two, three and four bedroom properties, offering contemporary build quality and innovative design. Each property will enjoy bright and roomy living areas, generous outdoor spaces and green outlooks. Launched in November 2013, Barratt Homes look forward to welcoming the first residents in late spring, early summer.

Cissbury Chase is ideally located on the former site of Worthing College and is within touching distance of the Strand Parade neighbourhood shopping centre, where you find a large selection of local amenities including a local butcher, baker, chemist, post office, international restaurants and takeaway outlets. The leisure facilities at Field Place and Worthing Leisure Centre are also nearby.

Worthing is just 10 miles from Brighton and within easy reach of West Sussex towns including Chichester and Crawley. London is less than 50 miles away. Connections by train to nationwide destinations include London Victoria, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, Littlehampton and Chichester. Durrington-on-Sea station is a five minute walk or two minute drive. West Worthing station is also a short walk or drive away.

The recent government-backed Help to Buy scheme means that homebuyers at Cissbury Chase will require only a 5% deposit to buy one of the brand new Barratt Homes. The government will lend the purchaser up to 20% of the purchase price, meaning the buyer need only apply for a 75% mortgage.

Prices at Cissbury Chase start from just £224,995.
