A dream come true

Young Start-up Talent, the entrepreneurial initiative that carries a £50k prize fund for young entrepreneurs, launched in Brighton for a third year following on from the project’s success in the city. This year the team are working with Latest TV and officially announced the filming of a six-part ‘fly-on-the-wall’-style documentary that will follow the initiative through the rest of the year.

“You have to stick with your ambitions”

We hope that anyone looking to pursue a business idea will attend one of the workshops, the first being held on Friday 4th July at 12pm at City College, Pelham Street campus, and Wednesday 16th July at Latest Music Bar in Manchester Street from 11am.

Held at the Latest Music Bar, the launch was hosted by founders Lorraine Nugent and Matt Turner, with guest speakers including managing director of Latest TV Bill Smith, winner of the 2013/14 prize fund Natalie Evans of 42 Juice, and celebrity comedian Lynn Ruth Miller.

It was announced that Peter James, international bestselling British writer of crime fiction, will be joining the judging panel for the new TV series. Having a whole host of credits to his name, Peter James has written 25 novels, written and produced numerous films and sold more than 14 million copies worldwide, which have been translated into 36 different languages. Peter recently launched his new novel Want You Dead.

Lorraine Nugent and founding partner of Young Start-up Talent commented, “We are thrilled to be working with Latest TV and it is great to be working with Peter James on the judging panel. This year is going to be very exciting for everyone involved”.

Lynn Ruth Miller added, “I am so pleased to be involved with Young Start-up Talent and to see how we can help young people achieve their dreams and assist them along the way. You have to stick with your ambitions. There is no such thing as a put back – obstacles should be treated as building blocks to making your dreams a reality… however long that takes”.

Filming has already begun for the show which will be aired in December/January time on Channel 8. To find out more about Young Start-up Talent and how you can get involved, please visit the website www.youngstartuptalent.co.uk.
