Richard Shayler on bringing Brighton Lights to your TV screens

Brighton Lights

Hit the lights

Magazine shows come and go, but here at Latest TV our flagship show is set to stay! Brighton Lights is a fast-paced mix of live music, celebrity interviews and entertaining video inserts. To keep up with such an intense schedule of fun and frivolity, we needed two presenters of the highest calibre. Professional, yet engaging. Attractive, yet modest. Fashionable, yet charming. And of course we needed one of them to be Juice FM’s drive time radio presenter and the other to be an eighty-year-old award-winning comedian!

Brighton Lights

Guy Lloyd has been in the business for years; he knows many a celeb. “I’ve ‘ad ‘em all” are his words not mine, dear readers, and his BBQs are apparently legendary. Lynn Ruth Miller started comedy at the ripe young age of seventy. She won the best cabaret act at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe and you might remember seeing her on Britain’s Got Talent. They make a brilliant pair. They anchor the show fantastically well and they never fail to amaze and surprise their loving team… especially the producer, who often likes to get his thoughts down on paper (ahem).

Brighton Lights

We’ve been filming like budding Hitchcocks over the last few months to ensure we’ve got the best material to bring to your TV screens. Lynn’s been whiskey tasting, getting her hair cut by a singing barber and kissing people down on the seafront. Guy’s been raving at 6am, drawing naked men with a group of hens and taking part in a spot of relaxing ‘laughter yoga’. They’ve both been setting each other food challenges and secretly been trying to out-do one another on who can get the best celeb on to their shows. Guy thinks he’s winning; Lynn’s got a few tricks up her sleeve, though!

Brighton Lights

We’ve already booked a wide array of amazing Brighton musicians to come onto the show, including The Move-Ons, Professor Elemental and The Gay Men’s Chorus. Our studio has two floors: the ground floor has a stage, audience arena and a bar and this is where the bands will play. The first floor is where our main studio is, and guess what? It also has a bar! Our studio also doubles as a live music venue, which means that the music will sound just as sweet as the beer taps.

When and where can we see such a tremendous televisual treat? You ask, fair readers… well, I’ll tell ya. We’ll be on every night, Monday to Friday, at 8pm on Freeview Channel 8, starting with a Brighton Lights Special Launch Party episode on Thursday August 28th. Put it in your diaries, everyone, because that is when Latest TV will be coming to Freeview Channel 8. Remember to re-tune your digital software, too!
