Wuthering Heights
Four actors horsed around on stage (in a well written purposeful way) while supposedly performing a version of classic novel Wuthering Heights, in this thoroughly enjoyable, well performed play. Much of the story was told by Heathcliff’s horse, who was charismatically portrayed, starting off playing for laughs and ending up with some of the play’s most devastating emotional moments. All four actors were superb, and the play fizzed around from the performers introducing both themselves and their characters, to a cappella singing, bickering, performing and fighting. The soul searching ending was powerful and moving, dissecting what it’s like to be a modern man in searing, unflinching, unnerving detail.
