In Molière’s medicinal masterpiece, the penny-pinching Argan is healthy, wealthy and completely obsessed by a list of imaginary ailments he believes himself to be suffering from. Confusion is piled upon hilarious confusion as a gang of eccentric quacks and Argan’s treacherous wife endeavour to fleece him of his fortune, whilst his lovesick daughter, her dashing lover and an astute maid attempt to set him straight.

Tony Robinson is one of the UK’s best loved actors. In addition to playing Baldrick in Blackadder he is well known for hosting Channel 4’s Time Team and The Worst Jobs in History. He was knighted in 2013.

Imogen Stubbs’ many stage roles include a recent appearance in Strangers on a Train in the West End. She appeared in a guest lead role in Parents, a comedy drama starring Sally Phillips for Sky TV.

Tracie-Bennett
The cast also includes Olivier award winning Tracie Bennett, who took the West End by storm with her portrayal of Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow.

Lindsay Posner is one of the UK’s greatest directors of comedy. His recent successes include Hay Fever with Felicity Kendal, recently seen at the Theatre Royal, Noises Off, Abigail’s Party and Relatively Speaking. He is currently directing Lindsay Lohan in her West End debut, in Speed the Plow. This is a brand new production of The Hypochondriac, which he first directed to huge acclaim at the Almeida Theatre in 2005.

Movement and dance in the production has been choreographed by Javier De Frutos, whose credits include the West End revival of Cabaret, for which he won the Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer, London Road (National Theatre), Macbeth (Shakespeare’s Globe) and Carousel (Chichester Festival Theatre), as well as a long standing collaboration with Rambert Dance.

Illusions are created by award winning magician and illusionist and Vice President of the Magic Circle, Scott Penrose (Cirque Du Soleil, Love Never Dies).
