Latest Sport: Blame it on the weatherman

The Latest Sport team are battling fearsome weather and playing volleyball … with their feet?

Hey guys and gals! It’s been another busy week here at Latest Sport, and the horrendous change in weather has meant I’ve tried to avoid as much outdoor filming this week as possible; clever thinking! So I’ve been in the studio presenting the sports news and hosting one of our feature shows, At The Amex.

Last week we had a couple of great guests – Guy Lloyd from Brighton Lights (who actually stunned us all by wearing a new shirt), and our most impressive football pundit so far, 10 year old Dan Morley. I won’t lie, when I was first told we were having a 10 year old on, I was slightly worried. That whole ‘don’t work with children or animals’ saying came into my head, and with Dan and Guy on the show, it couldn’t have been more appropriate. (Only joking!)

Guy’s a good mate of mine, and I have to say, Dan was an extremely knowledgable guest, and so grown up and professional. At the tender age of 10, to back-reference some historical Albion facts was seriously impressive; he really knows his stuff. It was Dan’s first TV appearance, but he’s been sharing his Albion expertise on the radio waves at Juice 107.2 for a while now after winning a competition to be their young reporter, so he’s a real pro. He’s a lovely kid too, and we’ll most definitely have him on the show again soon, as it’s great to have a range of ages of pundits and guests on the show. Cheers, Dan!

In other news, the boys also revealed the first of many in the ‘Dodgy Quiz’ series last week, which we are now going to have as a regular feature on our show Matchday Breakfast. It is what it sounds like – it’s a quiz, and it’s dodgy! Our first culprit to take part was Adam Lindsey from Talking Balls. We all had a good laugh with it, and I have to say my particular favourite was the Brighton ‘Ronaldo lookalike’ who tried chatting women up whilst wearing a Real Madrid kit. Just hilarious, and something I would never, ever fall for … ever.

We also got ourselves playing a bit of sport this week, as Joseph and Jay went down to Yellow Wave to get involved in a bit of footvolley with the Brighton footvolley team. A lot of you may be thinking, what on earth is ‘footvolley’?! Brace yourselves, people … it’s volleyball, but with your feet. Sounds tough right? If Joseph’s skills were anything to go by, yes, yes it is! You play on a volleyball court and you have to literally volley the ball over the net to the other team. Similar rules to volleyball apply, except you can’t use your hands in any way.

Needless to say, poor Joseph is a bit bruised and sore today, bless him. All in time for his birthday.

Yes, I said it! Joseph gets a bit of a special mention this week (I can’t believe I’ve been made to write this), as it really is his birthday! Well, it was on Saturday 11 October, but he’s milking it for all it’s worth. You may have caught him on Matchday Breakfast this week having a bit of a party on air with the rest of the team, so happy birthday, old chap. Hope you had a good one, from all the team here at Latest Sport. We’re all nursing hangovers, so we’d better get back to work …

Til next week sports fans!
