Latest People: ‘Zombie Zumba’, Topshop/Topman flagship store opening, Shocktober Fest, zebras at Gatwick
ZOMBIES DANCE INTO RECORD BOOKS
Nearly 200 zombies gathered at twilight at the Tulleys Shocktober Fest Halloween attraction near Crawley on Saturday 4 October, to set a new world record for the largest Zumba® class … featuring zombies!
Stuart Beare from Tulleys Farm says, “Fans love to get into the spirit of Shocktober. We had some amazing costumes and make-up; the officials counted 183 zombies dancing in the Zumba® class. We’ve registered the event with Guinness World Records, but as they don’t currently have a category for the largest Zumba® class featuring zombies we will have to wait to find out if Guinness recognises it!”
TOPSHOP/TOPMAN Churchill Square
The new Topshop/Topman flagship store at Churchill Square finally opened its doors last week. Excitement for the launch reached fever pitch with over 300 customers queuing for the doors to open. The new store spans two floors, and features the store’s first personal shopping space in the UK outside of London.
To celebrate the launch, customers were treated to complementary make overs and free manicures from the Topshop Beauty experts.
Zebras at Gatwick
A champagne reception and ‘Zebra Tribal Dance’ launched the new Gatwick Office of Acumen Business Law recently. Approximately 270 business executives booked to attend the glitzy party, held at the grand Gatwick Mercedes Showroom. Guests were treated to an Acumen Cash Card with £300 credit to use on legal fees, and enjoyed freshly cooked food served by ASK Italian on the night, the fun photo booth, networking opportunities, and the many impressive cars on display.
Three mixologists were frantically mixing cocktails throughout the night. But no doubt, the wow factor was delivered via the 12 spectacular ‘Zebra Dancers’ in tribal face paint, who enchanted the crowd with a surprise entrance to the sound of loud tribal drums.
Penina Shepherd, Founder and MD of Acumen Business Law, said: “A day after the event we received more than 100 messages by email and social media from business clients and contacts saying how much they enjoyed the night. Of course the launch is just the first step in many more … we’ll give it our all to make it a success; hopefully we can replicate the success we’ve had in Brighton and Hove all over again!”
Shocktober Shenanigans
Jonathan ‘Wossy’ Ross visited Shocktober Fest over the weekend, and looked shocked when he was introduced to the Scream Park’s new first aid team. A big Halloween fan, he was visiting the Park with his family and friends.
Jonathan and his family ventured into the parks haunted attractions, including the new Horrorwood Haunted Hayride, The Tunnel and the Haunted House, and was happy to stop for chats and pictures with fellow Halloween fans visiting the park. He tweeted a picture of himself with the Tulleys Shocktober Fest Scream Park zombie nurses, saying:
“It was great”.
Shocktober Fest has been voted “The no.1 scare attraction in the UK” in the Screamie Awards for the past four years running, and offers 18 ‘fright nights’ with seven immersive haunted attractions until Sunday 2 November 2014.
