Morcheeba
It is not difficult to understand why Morcheeba’s return gig at the Concorde 2 sold out soon after the tickets were released. With a voice so smooth even the Cadbury’s Caramel Bunny sounds raspy in comparison, Skye Edwards looks as beautiful as she sounds. Blending their new songs with classics from their back catalogue, and seeming delighted to be there on stage, they displayed a perfect synthesis of talent, humility, enthusiasm and downright ‘cool’. Our senses were indulged, we felt appreciated, captivated, and dare I say slightly smug to be there. (Not just the opinion of a partisan; my feelings were vocalised by several groups of people standing within earshot.) Back in the day, I wore out my ‘Big Calm’ CD. I can see this happening with their new album – that surely says it all.
