New England House listen up!

The Brighton and Hove Youth Collective need your COPPER COINS (please)

You may have seen in Bernie’s café downstairs “The Copper Collective” bucket. The Copper Collective is a 3 month fundraising campaign for the Brighton and Hove Youth Collective – an organisation which is made up of eight youth clubs which support young people across Brighton and Hove. These include The Young People’s Centre (YPC), Crew Club, Deans Youth Project, Brighton Youth Centre, Tarner Community Project, Hangleton and Knoll Project, The Trust for Developing Communities and Sussex YMCA. They are all registered charities.

Over the next 3 months the aim is for the city to support young people who are engaging in fundraising by asking all schools, businesses, families and community groups to collect in their 1p and 2p copper coins in time for Christmas. The group will then collect up and count all the donations and set up a youth panel to decide how the money should be best spent.

So with thanks to Bernie’s café – New England House now has a Copper Collective point and acts as a great place for everyone to drop off all of those copper coins that are currently cluttering up your homes, cars, sofas and old ashtray’s …. and by donating them to the Collective, you know that they are actually going to 8 great causes.

Call it a copper coin amnesty, call it an opportunity to de-clutter, call it an opportunity to give something back to young people in our city without hopefully feeling too much of a pinch. Please support this activity if you are able and bring all your coins in before Christmas.
