BREMF: Bach & Telemann
Bach & Telemann meet at Cafe Zimmerman with Elizabeth Kruger (director and violin).
Fifty minutes of exquisite Baroque music played on period instruments, performed in 18th century costumes with a difference … coffee cups nestled in wigs and flowers sprouted in unexpected places, a Handel overture, Telemann’s Overture-Suite Burlesque de Quixotte supplemented by Andrew Glover’s spirited commentary and Bach’s Coffee Contata with a text by Carla Blackwood sung in English, and aimed to engage modern audiences. The coffee was superb, the cakes delightful, but all the added pizzazz distracted from the simple beauty and lovely rendition of each composition.
