Aladdin

Christmas has begun and there’s no better way to kick things off than this panto. S Club 7’s Jon Lee takes the turn of Aladdin with able support from BGT’s Kieran Sutcliffe and Sarah James, plus the hardy perennials Tom and Jack from Heart FM providing the comic relief. The plusses outweigh the negatives. Setting it in Peking seemed odd (it’s an Arabian Night tale!) and some of the jokes were tired and well worn. But the cast are tight (even at this early stage in the run), the energy kept up by Stephen Richards as Widow Twanky and Terry Gleed as Wishy Washy and the first half’s comedy routine was superb. Well worth a visit.
