Sounding Food and Music

This unusual concert explored the relationship of the senses that food creates through poetry, opera and experimental music. In an hour, the audience was entertained by Contemporary Connections’ exploration of gender in relation to food, also.

Sadly, the first two pieces consisting of electronic music and contemporary lyrics felt very distant from the theme, however the last three operatic styles (including the Frivolous Cake from Titus Groan) made up for it with their atmosphere and comic timing. The beautiful singing talents of Rebecca Hardwick, Allan Smith and Becky Brown were especially engaging and enjoyable to listen to.
