Asha’s Beauty project: Q&A
Everything you’ve never known about dermal fillers – we ask the questions!
Sanjeev Jandu is a Harley Street qualified aesthetic practitioner. Coming from a medical background, Sanj, a full time pharmacist, combines her knowledge from this field with her love for beauty and perfection to ensure all her treatments look natural and aesthetically pleasing.
Using only the highest quality, regulated and safe products, the non-surgical cosmetic treatments provided by Sanj are definitely value for money. And with evening clinics, she can offer treatments at a time that suits you, at Asha’s Beauty Project – fully regulated and insured.
Hello Sanjeev. Here’s a challenge – for those who have never heard of ‘dermal fillers’ before, how would you describe the treatment in one sentence?
Look like your confident younger self, without going under the knife!
And what does the process involve?
As we age, the contours of our face change as facial volume, hydration and skin elasticity decreases. This leads to the development of lines and wrinkles, as well as thinning of lips.
By directly injecting the naturally-derived dermal filler to these lines and wrinkles, the lost skin volume is immediately replaced, helping to plump up, lift up and smoothen out wrinkles to the surrounding skin level.
At the consultation you’ll have the chance to meet and talk through your expectations of the treatment with me, where I will assess your needs and recommend the best treatment for you.
No allergy testing is required, and the treatment is quick and easy! A mild topical anaesthetic (e.g. Emla cream) is applied to avoid any pain or sensation while injecting. Some swelling and redness may occur post treatment, which resolves within a few days.
As it is biodegradable, the effects of dermal fillers would decrease over 6–9 months, hence touch ups may be necessary to help you maintain your new look. If additional treatments are not done or wanted, the corrections will gradually disappear and your skin will look just as it did prior to the dermal fillers.
Is it safe?
Dermal fillers consist of a chemical known as hyaluronic acid that exists naturally throughout our body, for lubrication of joints, giving shape to our eyes and providing volume to our skin. For this reason, dermal fillers are completely biocompatible and safe for medical use.
We will be using the Belotero range of dermal fillers, manufactured by Merz Pharma, which is a smooth gel used to plump and smooth out the nose to mouth lines and the vermilion border (lip-line) to help in lip enhancement.
Would you recommend the treatment to anyone, or are some people more suitable clients than others?
Most people aged over 35. However, there are some exemptions that your practitioner will go through during your consultation.
Are dermal fillers popular in Brighton?
In my experience, yes they are.
