Marina Firewalk
Kirsty Pollard: take part in Mencap’s Marina Firewalk this spring
Fancy taking on the amazing challenge of walking barefoot over red hot coals burning at over 1200ºF? Achieve the impossible and walk across fire, the ultimate test of mind over matter, and a great way to impress yourself, friends and family, and have some fun!
This event takes place on Friday 10 April between 6pm and 9pm with the walk scheduled at 8.30pm in Marina Square.
Firewalking has been a popular fundraising event for years, and encourages participants to challenge things within themselves they are uncertain about. We ask that you raise at least £100 in sponsorship for Mencap, including your registration fee of £20. Don’t worry, it is not as difficult as you think – people will be more than willing to sponsor you to walk on fire, as long as they don’t have to do it!
With only 6% of people with a learning disability in paid employment, Brighton Marina want to raise money through the Firewalk to empower Mencap Young Ambassadors – people aged 16–24 with a learning disability – and improve access to employment. The minimum sponsorship is £100 but Mencap’s fundraising team will help you talk-the-talk, so you can walk-the-firewalk!
Challenge yourself to walk-the-firewalk and raise money to help Mencap support people with a learning disability. Register online at www.mencap.org.uk/firewalk For more information contact julian.kosh@mencap.org.uk or call 07939 801927.
