Theatre Royal: Hysterical
The multi-talented Jason Manford and Phill Jupitus star in high-octane musical The Producers, at the Theatre Royal Brighton
The hilarious, high energy musical comedy The Producers, based on Mel Brooks’ beloved Academy Award winning movie, has taken Broadway and the West End by storm, winning a record breaking 12 Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards.
The show visits Theatre Royal Brighton from Monday 13 to Saturday 18 April for a limited run of eight performances as part of a UK tour.
Impoverished by a string of flops, New York producer Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway’s greatest scam. Together they aim to produce the worst show ever and run away to Rio with millions, but they learn that showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth.
The cast includes the award winning comedian Jason Manford, who has won huge critical acclaim for his acting ability and vocal range in the role of Leo Bloom. He is joined by the much loved Phill Jupitus, described by one critic as a “scene stealing delight”. The dancer, choreographer and television personality Louie Spence brings unrivalled star quality to the role of Carmen Ghia, while Olivier award winning actor David Bedella, who wowed Theatre Royal Brighton audiences as Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, shines as Roger de Bris.
As well as featuring a riotous mix of eccentric characters, The Producers has a score of show stopping songs including ‘Keep It Gay’, ‘When You Got It, Flaunt It’, and the all time classic ‘Springtime For Hitler’.
Regarded by many as the funniest musical of all time, this brand new production of The Producers is sure to delight Brighton audiences with its breathless combination of song, dance and laughter. Simply unmissable.
