Simple Minds
This was a show of two halves with the first comprised of a heavyweight selection from their earlier period with highlights being the throbbing, still fresh, club classics ‘I Travel’ and ‘Love Song’ and an acoustic ‘The American’ standing strong alongside the stadium favourites from their mid 80s heyday, that ended with a bombastic ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’. Jim Kerr was resplendent in a tartan jacket, and in fine voice, and the guest female vocalists, especially Sarah Brown, both performed superbly. Unfortunately the second set lacked the pace of the first but was saved by a big crowd-pleasing finish.
