The Devil is said to have all the best tunes, and in this cabaret/burlesque showcase he also claims to have all the best performers too. The Devil himself (Desmond O’Connor) hosts proceedings, enjoying the irony of staking the entrance to purgatory in a church, wooing his audience of ‘sinners’ with a song or two spreading his philosophies and a suggestive and downright x-rated song or two. Our task is to decide which of his guest acts should go to Heaven and which to Hell. Starting with burlesque performer Cherry Shakewell and proceeding via the likes of Dave The Bear and award-winning cabaret comic Lynne Ruth Miller, amongst others. The night may have been tinged with decadence but the dancers’ moves were tight and through each knowing smile and lyric it was pure professionalism. An energising and devilish treat, and strictly for an adult-only audience.
