Buses: Get on Board

Brighton & Hove Buses the only way to travel
This week: Crawley

For a different shopping experience head up to Crawley on Metrobus Routes 271 and 273. Crawley is one of the ‘New Towns’ developed around London at the end of World War II. Its Town Centre is perfect for a browse around the shops or you could relax in the nearby Memorial Gardens. The fully-covered County Mall shopping centre provides a pleasant place to eat or shop whatever the weather, and the entrance is right beside the Bus Station!
Crawley Multiplex, which includes Cineworld, Hollywood Bowl and a range of restaurants, is on town Routes 4 & 5 and Fastway 10 – you can change buses at Crawley Bus Station for a short 5 minute journey.

The historic ‘Old Town’ area is a stopping-off point on the famous London-Brighton veteran and vintage car run which takes place annually on the first Sunday in November.
You can change buses at the Bus Station onto Route 2 for Tilgate Park and K2 Leisure Centre. Visit the 400 acre park for a relaxing stroll, energetic run or simply for some family fun and excitement.
There’s a nature centre with over 100 species of animal, including the friendly meerkats, cheeky otters and many rare breeds. There are regular feeding times throughout the day so you can see the animals getting rather excited about their food.
There are large areas of open parkland, lakes and forest as well as ornamental gardens to enjoy. Visit the craft studios to see craftspeople and wellbeing practitioners at work. Have a wander and then relax in the pretty walled garden with a coffee and cake afterwards.
The Whistler Close bus stop in Ashdown Drive is just a 5 minute walk away from the Park on Route 2. A short level walk down Titmus Drive brings you to the Park entrance.
