Stage: Palin interesting

Michael Palin’s journey through his diaries

One of Britain’s best-loved comedians, Michael Palin, comes to Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre on Saturday 3 October as part of his one-man stage show The Thirty Years Tour, celebrating 30 years covered by his eventful diaries.
During the course of his two-hour show, Michael brings to life thirty extraordinary years, from the end of the 1960s when his first child, and a new series called Monty Python’s Flying Circus, took their first faltering steps, to the end of the 1990s when Python had become the most influential comedy team in the world and Michael a hugely successful television traveller.
The diverse directions of his career will be illustrated by a rich and often rarely seen archive of film, video, photos and recordings. As forthright about failure as he is baffled by success, Michael shares the often hilarious, always honest and occasionally downright embarrassing experiences of a life that can’t resist a challenge.
Michael hopes that The Thirty Years Tour will focus attention on the importance of keeping diaries, and encourage people to do as he did, and start to keep an account of their daily life.
“The attraction of a diary is that it remains in its own time. It reflects only what happened on that particular day. It doesn’t flatter and it isn’t distorted by what happened later. In that way it’s the most truthful record of real life. And it’s your own life and nobody else’s…” says Michael, who was made a CBE in 2000 and was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship in 2013.
The Thirty Years Tour follows hot on the heels of his successful Travelling To Work tour in 2014.

Michael Palin The Thirty Years Tour comes to the Congress Theatre on Saturday 3 October, 7.30pm. Tickets £31.50. To book, call the Box Office on 01323 412000 or online at www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk For behind-the-scenes access and news of the latest shows to go on-sale find EBTheatres on Facebook and Twitter.

Bye Bye Baby

The new Bye Bye Baby Show – a fresh take on the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons; comes to The Hawth Crawley on Wednesday 1 July 2015 and is set to take the town by storm.
Musical Director Mark Ryzer says:“The Bye Bye Baby Show is above all about the timeless music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons which is still relevant today. We have worked extremely hard on every single element of our performance and in particular, in producing high quality melodies. I can guarantee that whether you are 8 or 80, you will not stay sat down during our show!”

Bye Bye Baby takes audiences through the journey of the Four Seasons with all its highs and lows; right from how the group formed; to how they were admitted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The show features a huge set list including classics Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man and Will You Still Love me Tomorrow. The Bye Bye Baby Show doesn’t stop there however. For the first time, this show will also feature big numbers which have never previously appeared in the original Jersey Boys musical including Silence is Golden, The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore and Why Do Fools Fall in Love.

Bye Bye Baby features the New Jersey Boy Jukebox; a seven piece live band. Mark Ryzer, Musical Director adds:“Our singers are of an incredible vocal range and quality. Take our lead singer Jamie Ledwith. He sings in the same vocal range as Frankie Valli (falsetto) and if you close your eyes, it really could be him.”
