Brighton escapes the wrath of Storm Barney

Sussex escaped the worst as Storm Barney hit the south coast last night.

Winds of up to 80 miles per hour were reported as a the storm moved in.

And while across the UK thousands were left without power, in Brighton this morning there was little sign of damage.

A weather warning does remain in place for tonight.
