The Coral

Most indie bands that take a lengthy hiatus struggle to reintegrate with the changed musical landscape upon their return, but this gig showed this clearly isn’t a problem for The Coral. The band’s musical abilities always did shine brighter than most of their contemporaries, and the tight, polished performance on display here proved this is definitely still the case. The heavier, darker, quasi-psycedelic sound from their new album resonated through the whole set, providing a fresh and interesting experience for old fans and new converts alike, and ensuring this rose above the plethora of bland nostalgia trips most “comebacks” have become.
