Brighton’s Arty: In your dreams
There’s no better time to indulge in an orgy of arty experiences in and around Brighton. But with all the Open Houses, and Festival and Fringe events, where to start? Well, if you’ve nothing pencilled in for 7-8 May, we strongly recommended heading off to Banff Farm just outside Lewes where the remarkable painter Jessica Zoob is opening her new studio to the public for the very first time (and for one weekend only). We were fortunate enough to meet Jessica and see how her works evolve a few years ago. Her technique has been described as recalling ‘the work of Gerhard Richter’s abstract paintings and the poetic quality of later Claude Monet’, and it’s no exaggeration to say that the results – often years in production – are just awesome. She calls them ‘images to dream into’, so give your imagination a treat. And if you can’t make the open studio, take a look at jessicazoob.com for limited-edition prints and textiles.
