Comedy: Hurry with the Fringe on top!

Next week it’s May. Really. Which heralds in the arrival of the Brighton Fringe for the duration of the month. With hundreds of shows to see, it’s difficult to work out where to start, so here are just a smattering of shows that stand out from the crowd.JamesHamilton_photoby_IdilSukan_DrawHQ_01
Unsurprisingly, the now flagship pop-up Brighton Fringe venue The Warren has an excellent variety of top notch shows, mixing the firm favourites, like Sh*t-faced Shakespeare and Sh*t-faced Showtime, with newer high pedigree performances such as James Hamilton Is So Lonely (pic above) from sketch group Casual Violence alumni, and Rob Dubrell’s debut hour show Life In Progress.
The newest to the pop-up venue arena is Republic, a Spiegeltent-type arrangement over by the Brighton Wheel. Playing host to a variety of conceptually different shows, these include Comedy In The Dark, Comedian’s Cinema Club, and the internationally acclaimed improvising rapper from Ireland – Abandoman.
Plus there’s the free fringe courtesy of Laughing Horse over at Caroline of Brunswick with Brighton Fringe award-winner James Bennison, Edinburgh hit Steve Bugeja, and rising local Sean McLoughlin. Enjoy.
