Brighton’s Arty: Out of This World

There’s always something arty to delight passers-by on the corner of Foundry Street and Gloucester Road. And that’s largely due to the presence of Gallery40. This light and welcoming artspace holds a lively programme of pop-up shows, none more intriguing than the current ‘Contemporary Retrospective’. DSC_3156
A joint exhibition by Brighton-based artists Patrick O’Donnell and Dawei Zhang, you’ll find recent works upstairs and a veritable Aladdin’s cave by both, spanning the last decade, downstairs. Dawai is known for his intense, emotional approach, featuring bold figures painted with rough strokes of colour, while Patrick’s current subject matter stretches back 4.6 billion years linking us to the formation of our solar system – so it’s a fascinating juxtaposition. The exhibition also features a specially created collaborative work inspired by both artists’ love of table tennis! Until 15 May.
