At The Edge Of The Sea featuring The Wedding Present, Such Small Hands & more

Very much now a tradition, The Wedding Present once again have organised an eclectic and adventurous programme, featuring friends, family and acts they simply admire, at the legendary Concorde 2.

Apparently sketched out on the veritable napkin in a roadside cafe, The Wedding Present’s founder and frontman David Gedge took the idea to Lout Promotions and ever since they have put together the event since 2009. This is their eighth year.

Confirmed acts this year include The Wedding Present themselves, doing their yearly Brighton gig, plus their alter-egos Cinerama, who recently released their first album in years, last year, in the form of a re-hashed version of The Wedding Present’s Valentina.

Then there is a rare gig for the Welsh language indie-rock group Melys, who formed back in 1996, and who recorded 11 John Peel sessions; Astrid Wiliamson and former Wedding Present bassist Terry de Castro performing murder ballads; psychedelic country punks Mermaid Noises; Brighton based electro-folk poppers Such Small Hands; Jonny 8 Track, Bar Creeps; and the wonderful alt-orchestral-folk of Collectress.

Because the venue could not be secured over the usual Bank Holiday weekend, At The Edge of the Sea has reverted to being a one-day event this year, as it was when it was first put on.

Sat 20 Aug, Concorde 2, 3pm, £22.50
