Comedy: Double vision

Double vision

September is arriving – and with it loads of funny comedians. Whether it’s Lou Sanders over in Eastbourne for Screaming Blue Murder this Friday, Russell Kane and Sarah Millican in Worthing over the next couple of weeks, or Hal Cruttenden at Eastbourne’s Royal Hippodrome in a couple of weeks’ time – we’ve got treats aplenty in Sussex with the first Autumnal month.

Closer to home finds a fantastic line-up at Zoe Lyons’ monthly gay-friendly comedy night Bent Double, welcoming Tiff Stevenson as the night’s headliner, with great support from favourites Rosie Wilby and Sam Savage. Stevenson mixes gender politics with witty observational humour, complimenting Wilby’s engaging storytelling and Savage’s cheeky character laughs from her Linda Larkin creation. All hosted by Lyons herself (as frequently seen on all of those television panel shows).

For those after rising comedy from the trenches, check out Friday’s On The Edge, with some of the best up and coming acts in close quarters. Enjoy.

Bent Double, Sunday 4 September, Komedia, 7.30pm, £12/9/5
On The Edge, Friday 2 September, Caroline of Brunswick, 7.30pm, £5
