Andrew Kay: Brighton & Hove Food and Drink awards
Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Awards
The finalists of this year’s Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Awards have been announced. Public nominations for the awards – headline sponsored by Deliveroo – opened in April with voting via the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival website running until the end of August. Over 2,600 people voted across 17 categories with new awards including Best International Cuisine and Best Sunday Lunch.
The top three in each category now goes to a judging panel who will secret shop or interview finalists throughout October with the grand final held at My Brighton’s Merkaba bar on Monday 14 November, with drinks sponsored by Ridgeview Wine Estate and Blackdown Artisan Spirits.
“Its been another bumper year of public nominations”, says food festival director Nick Mosley. “Whilst it’s no surprise that many of Brighton’s iconic hospitality businesses are back in the top threes, it’s great to see some new businesses as finalists.”
The awards celebrate the best of the city’s food and drink economy and are made possible by the generosity of sponsors from across the business community.
