Los Albertos
Thought you’d seen the back of them? Thought they were dead? Not yet! In what suspiciously looks like a tradition, the band’s second End of Summer Party gig takes place this week, an event that is being filmed and recorded for possible future release.
Earlier this year they released their first new material for seven years, in the shape of the ‘This Is A Serious Party’ EP, which featured ‘Fall From Grace’, ‘Itchy Feet’, ‘Money’ and their bouncy ska flavoured cover of the Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’.
One of the very best live bands around, this quintessential Brighton band formed in late 2002, playing their debut gig at The Prince Albert (where they got there name from; Los Albertos. Get it?), quickly becoming a festival friendly band; their mix of ska, dub, funk, klezmer, swing jazz and rock always getting the party started. The six piece band feature five singers, a brass section and the most metronomic drummer you’re likely to ever hear. Tight, funny, crazy, loud, Los Albertos also happen to write memorable songs that work brilliantly on the dancefloor.

Three albums later they called it a day in 2012, but reformed in 2014 with the idea of doing select gigs and releasing new material.
Support comes in the form of Ratbag, the accordion-driven ska-punk five piece, who have also just released an EP, Rentokil, recorded at The Levellers’ Metway Studios. And DJ Boll***s is on the decks.
