Music with Joe Fuller

1 The beautiful artistic confluence that is Philip Glass’ Heroes and Low Symphonies based on Bowie’s albums can be heard live tomorrow. Charles Hazlewood will be conducting the world’s first professional ensemble of disabled musicians: the British Paraorchestra.
De La Warr Pavilion, 14 December, 7pm

2 The South Coast Jazz Festival launches in style with British jazz-funk band Incognito, performing classics and new songs from recent release Amplified Soul. And hopefully some Seinfeld-like slap bass, general grooves and a jovial mood.
The Old Market, 17 December, 8.30pm

Entertainment with Joe Fuller

3 Beethoven’s Ghost is one of the most astonishing, gloriously melodic pieces of music ever, and popular Coffee Concert stalwarts Trio Isimsiz will be performing it, and some Faure and Haydn trios, on a crisp Christmassy morn this Sunday. I’ll be there and you should be too.
Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, 18 December, 11am

4 Dame Do’nut, Viscount Biscuit and the Magical Mirror’s panto adventure got five stars from us before: a ringing endorsement for a “dazzling spectacle of a show”. Thankfully, Beauty & The Beast has returned!
Ropetackle, Shoreham, 14-31 December

Comedy with Victoria Nangle

5 You saw him in The Office, you heard his Comic Relief single ‘Equality Street’ (with Doc Brown), and now you can see the living legend of paper merchants live with his band on his arena tour. Check out David Brent & Foregone Conclusion (aka Ricky Gervais) for this very special performance.

6 Care for the carers with this incredible mixed bill line-up in this fundraiser in aid of The Carers Centre. Comedy Caravan consists of Joe Wilkinson, Phil Jerrod, Sam Savage, Phil Lucas, Joe Foster… and many more funny people of a most excellent comedic calibre.
Komedia, Wed 14 December, 8pm, £10

Arts with Brighton’s Arty

7 Sonic the Hedgehog was an iconic irritation of the Nineties whose global gaming fanbase has kept his career buoyant for the past 25 years. Celebrate this landmark birthday at Castle Gallery where a host of leading contemporary artists have captured his spirit in their own inimitable styles.
2 Nile Pavilions, South Lanes

8 Boxbird Gallery is thriving online with a souped-up new website and an exciting new addition to it ranks of printmakers and illustrators. The Telegramme Paper Co’s work is inspired by vintage posters and mid-century modern design techniques. The perfect Christmas pressie.
