Alice In Wonderland, Ballet Theatre UK
A brisk tumble through the rabbit hole in this pretty, perky adaption of Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s tale. A relatively small company take on a huge variety of roles, and the children in the audience are completely enthralled by the Red Queen’s croquet match and the Mad Hatter’s tea party (complete with ingenious costume designs to represent a gingham-clad table). It would have been interesting to see certain ideas – like Alice’s initial fall, and her shrinking/lengthening limbs – developed further, but otherwise this is an engaging, funny and charming show for all ages, stuffed with vividly memorable characters and bright colours.
