Cabaret From The Shadows
A motley crew, promising to bring our dark imaginings to life with a lurid grimace, this ensemble certainly looked the part and had some gems in amongst the multitude of ideas cascading in this cabaret. A haunting kimono dance, a surreal yet striking clucking song, a playful feeding time at the nursery, love and revenge were all highlights. At times it lost its way, meaning to be hard-hitting satire but delivering more of a limp push – the urge to pile it high with content meaning that some of stronger sections were cut short, possibly losing their nerve. But this was enjoyable fun in the main, with music, clowning, singing, dancing and even a snowball fight bonding audience and players together playfully.
