Mykki Blanco in babydoll dress, introduced her slick DJ before shouting “welcome to my cabaret darling”. But this show was no drag spectacular. It was a raw, honest performance by an undeniably talented riot grrl rapper and performing artist. Woodkid, Mykki’s collaborator on new album “Mykki”, has directed music videos for Taylor Swift and Lana Del Ray. On stage Mykki’s flamboyant, fearsome and unpredictable in equal measure. She spouts menacing rap lyrics “I scalp these haters with a sickle”, prior to crowd bashing the audience with a giant pillow. Mykki gets the party started, the crowd hyped and leaves us in no doubt of her talents as a fearless, iconic rap artist.
