Whitney

Though Whitney don’t have the biggest back catalogue, their set was full bodied at Concorde 2 27th June. They interwove tracks from their debut album ‘Light on the Lake’ with cover versions of ‘You’ve Got a Woman’, ‘Magnet’ and the theme tune from ‘Golden Girls’. Whitney could successfully deliver this eclectic array of songs because of the jazz element to their sound, which lends itself to playing around with different technique. Reminiscent of the jazz style, each instrumentalist spliced the set with an impeccable solo, with the piercingly good vocal of Julian Ehrlich lapping at the sides.
